Love with Not-so-real Guys
Saturday, December 24, 201110:49 PM

Happy holidays everyone! Whoa lookie at it, in just one hour, we'd be facing Christmas in the face. It's been a week since the holiday vacation and so far, I haven't done anything productive school-wise (hello, all ye grammar nazis) even though I know our group should've had a meeting to perform experiments for our ICT experimental project and uh... a few journal entries to write in my native language. Not to mention 3 homework to kill. I'll pay for this in a few weeks, oh don't I know it.

So what have I been up to these last few day? Well, it's basically just a sleep-computer-eat-read-sleep routine. I seriously haven't gone out since school broke out. Isn't that insane or insane? Having a dad who gets a headache after one hour in the mall, and mom who's so busy with work she arrives dead midnight doesn't really help. Plus, they won't let me go out alone. It's a sad world, but hey, I keep looking for entertaining stuff to keep around the bend.

Yeah, as you can see in my title, (I'm sorry for the slightly lengthy introduction-slash-ranting session I've bombarded you with. I didn't mean to throw all of that to you. Since, as you know, my love life pretty much sucked and this Christmas didn't really give me any giggle worthy experiences and opportunities (last time I checked, there were no guys preparing AVP presentations , declaring their love for me). So I got myself attached to these "boys" that are kind of not real. But they're really hot, so that probably explains why I'm all over Otome gamer blogs, reading about games that I'm no sooner going to play (because duh, all the good ones are in Japanese and there aren't English patches available anywhere). Here are some of them:

Tokimeki Girl's Side Series

Apparently, a lot of girls had already lost their heads (and their heart) over this game and it's harem like theme, what with a lot of bishies popping out at every turn of the plot. It's basically a sim game, but wholly disabled. You can shop for clothes and pick what you'll wear to school festivals or during dates, but pretty much all you can do is pick out some options like study, or raise your stats to be able to woo your guy easier. It doesn't go beyond that, but hey, the CGs (computer graphics) are to die for. It's the little cut scene you get when your relationship with a guy rises a meter. And you have to do a lot of things in order to trigger these events. And as I said, the guys are hot! :) Totally fangirling now.

So this Konami Otome game has built out quite a few installments in the long run. I hear these are really appreciated by teenage girls in Japan. And that only means... no English patches for us Kanji illiterate. Since "apparently" there doesn't seem to be much market in the western countries (and other Asian countries, like mine). I mean hello? What do you think I am? Haven't I spazzed enough that you don't release copies of legendary Otome games here? We love (obsessed/crazed) your games and it's your loss that you're damn well not letting us get our hands on your products. Not EVERYONE can read your language you know. We can only scratch up to the "Ohaio Gozaimasu" or something. (I'm not even sure I spelled that right, but oh well.) Enough ranting. Here are the load of them cute boys and the various installments of the game:

Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1st Love Plus DS

Yeah so that's the first game. I've read a lot of reviews but I think I still prefer the latest installment, mainly because of the graphic's quality. This was released way back in, what, 2006? So it's not really that new anymore. Experts on game programming and the Japanese have already lent a hand to a lot of fangirls out there who wasn't able to play the game because they don't understand anything. Yes, these nice people have actually made English patches. Yay! But sadly, the fantasy had to end there since even I do have the English patch, I still need to get a DS or a PSP 2. Which I don't have the money to splurge on. Yeah, much crying.

Kei Hazuki

That guy over there, Kei, is the main bishy of the first game. He's as yummy as what he's eating, from what I can see. I want to pounce on him. And from what I've read (hey there wikipedia my man/woman) he's the stereotype school prince who's aloof but with a soft hearted, caring gal like uhm... me (since I'm the girl protagonist that's supposed to lure all of them in my lair) he's break through his "icy" demeanor and show his vulnerable side little by little. Now stop those glittering eyes guys.

First game's guys. Oh so many hot guys, so little time. (Or money.)

Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 2nd Kiss

And this is the second installment of the series. Pretty much the same routine but with a different plot, new high school, and a new set of scrumptious truffles *ehem, I mean guys.

Choose your pick...

Those are the young men you can follow like a puppy for three years of your high school life. But wait. Someone's missing. Of course, who can miss the slightly far fetched-slash-awkward relationship you can form with in this game.

Takafumi Wakaouji

Takafumi Wakouji-sensei! You heard right, your Chemistry teacher. LOL. Isn't ironic that he teaches you chemistry? He's a bit weird when you play for his path (as some gamers hinted) but in every bit, he's as gentle and mature as your average, hot, and newly graduated teacher. Not that I'm for student-teacher relationships. Everybody seems to think it's taboo, but oh well. If your sensei's like that guy up there, you're a goner. ;p

Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 3rd Story

Hah! And finally, my favorite, the third one in the series. Or maybe I'm totally being biased here since it's the first one that I saw among the three installments. And the gentlemen are extra spicy. Ohme... noona super transformation transpiring. Hahaha. Anyway, the thing that's feeding my fire for this game is that... in just a few days, and counting, a PSP VERSION OF THIS GAME WILL BE RELEASED! OH. MY. CRICKET! Right...

Your main guy here.

Actual game play. (Where you get to touch them OLOL)

And here I am again, bursting my bubble. You see, I probably have to wait for a kind soul who would translate the Japanese characters for me before I can hunt for a free dowload of the PSP version. So pray, be kind people! Be kind to a broke, mediocre, dirty old man like me. Not that I'm a man, nor am I dirty.

Next up, we have Akazukin to Mayoi no Mori.

Akazukin to Mayoi No Mori

Ah well, as much as I'm THIS close to being able to play this game, (of course with the natural language barrier) I still can't because this a R18+ game. Which means... it contains the *ehem and the *cough cough CGs. Basically like P. I've seen some of those CGs from the game's website and if you don't want to lose your innocence (like I did WAAAHHH!) then be contented by just reading the plots. I'll provide a link to my well beloved, thoroughly envied Otome game bloggers.

Kitsune-kun AKA Mr. Fox

Reign in your horses. I know. This is why is a total shame that I can't play this game because I'd waste an epic art fest. The sprites in this game were really drawn well (superb I say, I don't even want to call them sprites because the sample images looked like it was taken from an anime with extremely spazz worthy bishies) and I guess when everything looks really cute and the colors or other technical stuff were blended well... you don't want to miss that in your life. So yeah.

It's the same simulation thing where you choose actions in order to trigger events, go down a character's love path, and all the blah blah blah. The plot was loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood by the way. Tiana, the main character (the role you're to play) is a girl who just wanted to be eaten by some wolf after her aunt (aunt from hell) asked her to do something in the forest with the intention of never having her return. There he meets Omaki, the well, the wolf guy who looks totally hot in midriffs. He wants to eat you, but tells you that you are just a youngling. He adopts you (as some sort of slave or servant I guess) and is actually willing to wait it out until your old enough to be edible. No pun intended.
From then on, you'll grow to love Mr. Wolf guy (see picture below) and would go to any means to make him fall in love with you in return, unless you decide to hit on the other delicious guys lurking in the forest.

Ookami-sama

So there you go. Another Otome game that I immediately fell in love with upon seeing some videos and pictures would be Step. It's a game by Amedeo (one of the companies who make these things) and it brags whooping character art. It's like a manga character you've been pining for come to life.

Same old same old. So I won't be getting to details with these Otome games yet since I still want to spazz on each of them particularly. So I'll make sure to put up separate posts for each of the games. It's also for you to be able to comprehend more on these things. Oh come to think of it, this is the first tame I've mentioned Otome games and other whatnot in my blog. So there you go. Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you have a good one.
